I am so stinkin congested! Argh! What does that have to do with running or Jeff Galloway? Pretty much, nothing. I’m just stating my current condition. And, I might add, during Jeff Galloway’s very informative lecture (informative if you’re a runner) I kept sniffling and trying not to sneeze.
I recorded many segments of Mr. Galloway’s lecture but unfortunately the recordings are not very loud with the few exceptions of my sniffling which drowned out Mr. Galloway’s voice.
Man, I just cannot get rid of this heavy congestion. Anyone have any advice on how to rid myself of this pestering mucus buildup in me? I tried that NasalFlo stuff but that just gives me relief for about 2 minutes. I’ve tried hot steaming showers but 3 minutes after the shower I’m congested again! I take one 24 hour tablet of Zyrtec every day and that doesn’t stop this nonsense. My gosh, I am a mucus making machine! That’s nothing to be proud of, I assure you.
Ok, back to the lecture. Notice how easy it is for me to get off subject? Dang. What do they call that?…attention deficit disorder —>ADD! Right? I think so. Ok, back to the lecture.
This is my boot during Mr. Jeff Galloway’s lecture on running
It was a very informative lecture. Mr. Galloway is an amiable guy. He explained how pretty much anyone that can walk can develop into a runner but to do it the smart way.
He has books and whatever you call those things….guidelines to follow to become an injury-free runner. His goal is to coach you to make a lifestyle change of exercise by running smartly and healthy eating.
This guy, Jeff Galloway, is an Olympian who trained with Frank Shorter. Galloway has a lot of wisdom in running. For an old guy he appears to be in pretty dang good shape.
Here’s his website if you’re interested in checking it out: jeffgalloway.com
Gosh, I’m a sneezing machine too! I just finished sneezing three times in a row! That must be some kind of record. Aargh! I need to be healed of this! If I win the lottery I will have all the mucus in me drained out forever and ever! Aargh, this sucks! I feel like running.
This is the back of Mr. Galloway’s head
Well, I enjoyed the lecture and even asked Mr. Galloway his thoughts on electrolyte pills. He gave a good answer -basically, these are used by triathletes and ultra-runners because at a certain point your body loses much of its sodium and it could result in hyponatremia -not a very nice thing to get. Mr. Galloway specifically named Succeed pills as a good source for electrolyte and sodium replenishing.
I used Succeed pills the summer of 2008 as I trained for the Boulder 100. Believe me, those pills are a necessity when running for 2 plus hours in temperatures over 85 degrees! Just be careful with these pills!
Take time to figure out how your body reacts to them! It took me about a month to figure out how many my body could handle and what time intervals to take them. I had initially went by my brothers recommendation of two pills before you start running and then, one pill every half-hour. That did not work for me. I don’t want to gross you out…too much but I think it is my duty to warn you…in the middle of a 17 mile run I had to go. And, when you have to go, you have to go! Even, if there is no toilet available. Not a pretty sight! I’ll leave it at that. It was a miserable experience.
Ok, I think I’m going to rinse out my nose with that nasal solution again. Hey, if I’m able to get those videos to play a little louder I will post them on this site. That won’t happen, though, until tomorrow or the next day. And, just so you know (& no one else), I plan to run tomorrow -mucus-full and all!
love, peace & mucus-free,
dh
